Monmouth University, located in West Long Branch, New Jersey, was founded in 1933 “to provide opportunity for higher education to area high school graduates who, in those Depression-era days, could not afford to go away to college.” This tradition of accessibility remains a cornerstone of Monmouth University’s mission. Many students in the MBA program also received their undergraduate degrees from Monmouth University, and listed location, convenience, competitiveness, and good professors as the primary strengths of Monmouth University’s Leon Hess Business School.Students note that “[s]ince Monmouth University is a smaller institution …the administrators and professors get to know their students on a more personal level, and are very interested in helping them achieve their academic goals.” “Professors are easy to gain access to” and “[w]illing to help.” The small campus setting “allows each student to get one-on-one time with professors and administrators.” They “are always there whether…via email, phone call, or meeting up at a time that is convenient.”

Professors are “very knowledgeable in their fields” and their real life work experience “gives them the chance to share real-life business scenarios with students” and discuss “how particular topics were handled.” Students found this much more helpful than “just reading case studies or chapters in a text book.” Monmouth offers “vast course offerings and times,” and students say that the administration “will add classes if multiple students need them” and that both professors and the administration are “very accommodating to working professionals.” One student found the professors helpful, but thought the material they taught was “dated,” and the classes “easy and unchallenging.”

In addition, students have access “to a variety of ‘real world’ experts,” including the “H.R. Young Lecture Series, the Accounting Club Speakers, the Finance Club Speaker, the S.B. Siegel Lecture Series.”
