Belmont's campus is easily accessible by taxi from Nashville International Airport. The average charge is $25 for a one-way trip to the university area. From I-65 South: Exit onto I-440. Take Exit 3 onto 21st Avenue and proceed through two stoplights to the campus, located on your right.
From I-40 West: Take I-440 East and Exit at 21st Ave. Go north (toward downtown Nashville). Turn right onto Magnolia Blvd and immediately turn right into the circular drive in front of Belmont's main administration building. Visitors may park on the circular drive or in front of the next building, The Massey Business Center.
From I-40 East: Take I-440 West, following the directions to Nashville, which will take you onto I-65 North. At the first exit, Wedgewood Avenue, go left (west) through two traffic lights. Belmont's Admissions Committee considers applications based on the total picture that a student's credentials present. High school students will be considered competitive for admission if they present a rigorous course of college-preparatory, academic studies. Students should have an above-average academic and cumulative grade point average and rank in the top half of their graduating class. Any college-level work is also expected to be at the above-average level. A strong correlation between high school grades and entrance examination scores is expected. The essays, list of activities, and recommendations are also strongly considered as indicators of success at Belmont. Additional requirements such as portfolios or auditions are considered in conjunction with the academic credentials for those programs that require them. Each application is considered on an individual basis. No two applicants will present the same credentials or the same "fit" with the university. Our desire is to work with each student to determine the likelihood of that student to enroll in, graduate from, and use the benefits of the Belmont educational experience.

Belmont was ranked sixth on the U.S. News & World Report listing of "Best Universities" in the South and named a "Most Innovative" university for the 2019 edition of America's Best Colleges, making Belmont the highest ranked university in Tennessee in this category. Both Rolling Stone and Time magazines have hailed Belmont's Mike Curb College of Entertainment & Music Business as one of the best music business programs in the country. The Jack C. Massey Graduate School of Business has been named the best MBA program in the region, while Belmont's business administration and accounting programs have been accredited by AACSB International, the premier accrediting agency in that arena, placing Belmont amongst less than 1% of the world's business schools. Moreover, Belmont University's undergraduate School of Business consistently achieves a Top 100 national ranking in BusinessWeek's annual report on "The Best Undergrad B-Schools" in the U.S. Belmont's Enactus team has won multiple national championships and a World Cup.
Located in the heart of Music City, one of Belmont's consistent success stories is its world-renowned music and music business programs, including songwriting. Several big names in the music industry started their careers at Belmont including, Christian recording artists Ginny Owens and Steven Curtis Chapman, and country stars Trisha Yearwood, Lee Ann Womack, Brad Paisley, Josh Turner and Florida Georgia Line, plus alternative rock band Judah and the Lion. The annual "Christmas at Belmont" concert showcases performing ensembles from many different genres and has been broadcast nationwide on PBS for several years.
Students who have passions outside of the music industry also have a home at Belmont. From international business and accounting to education, theology, nursing, design, journalism and the humanities, Belmont provides avenues of learning for almost any interest. Recent program additions include an undergraduate degree in legal studies, sport administration, experiential design, fashion design, fashion merchandising, interior design, in addition to, a four-year dual PharmD/MBA degree, a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling and a Doctor of Nursing Practice program.
Belmont faculty members display a consistent commitment to excellence as well. Multiple professors have been awarded Fulbright awards, including a nursing professor who spent a year in Uganda as a guest lecturer while conducting research on how standards of nursing are adapted to austere conditions. Also, five Belmont professors (Finance, Psychology, Spanish, Philosophy and Mathematics) have been chosen as Tennessee Professor of the Year by CASE/Carnegie Foundation since 2000.
Belmont's boundaries extend beyond the Nashville campus through its Cool Springs campus and organized programs such as the Washington Center program and Belmont West in Los Angeles and Belmont East in New York City and Washington D.C. “Life at Belmont is all about music,” says one student. “Many people here want to make a career out of their musical abilities, and many people want to make careers out of other people’s musical abilities.” Belmont’s famous music business program lets students tap into the musical lifeblood of surrounding Nashville. “You can get an internship or learn how to manage an artist.” Other School of Music undergraduate majors include church music, commercial music, and musical theater performance. Belmont “has one of the best nursing programs in the state,” and the popular social work program boasts “excellent” faculty. The school’s academic atmosphere emphasizes faith: “Teachers pray in class before tests and some invite the class as a group to attend their church. Some send you verses with your lessons.” Belmont doesn’t “even hire” non-Christian professors, a policy that, although common to Christian colleges, stirred controversy when a Jewish candidate advanced through the faculty hiring process only to be considered ineligible for the post. Students say, however, that “religion is not forced on anyone.” Most professors are very attentive, closely monitoring student progress; one student says, “I had a professor call me because I was late to a class once.” In general, faculty members “know your name and face and remember you after you have finished their class.” One student warns, however, that the best teachers are not always the most involved: “So far this semester, the professors who do not know my name have taught me more than the professors who know my name and can’t communicate the time of day effectively.”

Belmont's campus life offers 150+ clubs and organizations. The popular intramurals program includes everything from flag football and basketball to wiffleball and dodgeball. With more than half of Belmont's undergrads living on campus there's always something going on from socials, movie nights and concerts to the annual Fall Follies and Curb College Showcase Series.
And in terms of student activities, there's a club or group for nearly every interest. Belmont is home to six nationally recognized sororities and three nationally recognized fraternities representing NPC, IFC and NPHC. The Bruins are big on giving back, too, logging more than 200,000 hours of community service annually.
Athletics
In addition to celebrating academic excellence and phenomenal growth, Belmont boasts 17 intercollegiate sports teams. The Belmont Bruins men's basketball team won the Ohio Valley Conference regular season championship in 2013, 2014 and 2015 and made its eighth appearance in the NCAA National Tournament in 2019. The Belmont Bruins women's basketball team has made four consecutive appearances in the NCAA National Tournament during the years 2016-2019. Baseball, both cross country teams, and the volleyball team have earned recent conference titles. Belmont student-athletes excel in the classroom, too, as Belmont has won the conference's All-Academic Trophy multiple times. The award is given annually to the conference school with the greatest percentage of student-athletes who earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

“Anything that would stand out at a major state university is basically the norm” at Belmont, where the typical student is a “hip,” “Jesus-loving,” “music business major”---a cool Christian kid who is “most likely in a band or working with one.” The ambitious “music junkies” are “very culturally aware” and “know exactly how they’re going to get where they want to be.” Ethnically, Belmont is “not a very diverse school,” but “individuality” reigns “in ideas, styles of dress, taste in music, [and] philosophies.” One student jokes that “the campus looks like an indie band concert.” Students are “very friendly” and “accepting to atypical students.” One happy undergrad says, “Everyone here is their own animal, and we all love the Zoo.”

With more than 1.7 million residents, the metropolitan Nashville area is a cultural, educational, health-care, commercial, and financial center in the mid-South. Practical educational opportunities, offered through diverse curriculums, provide students with the hands-on experience they need in preparation for a meaningful career. The city's location, halfway between the northern and southern boundaries of the United States, with three intersecting interstate highways and an international airport, makes it accessible to students from across the country.

Belmont is also consistently growing its number of residential, academic and student spaces on campus, investing more than 650 million dollars on new facilities and building improvements since 2000. The past five years alone have seen the opening of many new and renovated buildings. This includes the expansive Janet Ayers Academic Center – home to three colleges covering a wide span of programs including the Liberal Arts, Social Sciences, Theology, Sciences and Mathematics. The building also houses Belmont's first intentionally-designed chapel and popular dining options.
Other new facilities include the technology-laden R. Milton and Denice Johnson Center – home to the Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business, as well as the vibrant 950-seat Harrington Place Dining Hall. The Massey Business Center – home of the Jack C. Massey College of Business – was renovated to feature state-of-the-art classrooms and learning spaces for Belmont's nationally ranked business programs. Also recently remodeled, the Hitch building, provides new classroom, practice and rehearsal space for the School of Music and also houses the new O'More College of Architecture, Art & Design.
Notably, Belmont's added more than academic spaces. The Gabhart Student Center was revamped to provide expanded student meeting space and centralized student support services. The Gallery of Iconic Guitars, known as the GIG, hails as Music City's premier venue designed to celebrate some of the rarest guitars and stringed instruments in the world. And the newly-opened Tall Hall, Belmont's largest residence hall accommodates more than 600 students, and grows the number of on-campus residence spaces to nearly 3,900. And construction has begun on Belmont's most ambitious project to date – a new state-of-the-art performing arts center. This 1,700 seat facility, opening in 2021, will serve as a world-class training ground for students both onstage and backstage.

Belmont is a student-focused, Christian community of learning and service where students hear from their first visit to campus until the day they graduate that they are created for a purpose in life. The Belmont faculty and staff dedicate themselves to preparing and empowering students to find their passion and use it to change the world. The university seeks to show every student how the love of Christ can compel them to lead lives of disciplined intelligence, compassion, courage and faith.
In fact, Belmont students, faculty and staff are consistently challenged to look at the hardest circumstances and ask, "What can we do?" and are encouraged to engage and transform the world, locally and globally. Students serve locally at various relief and community organizations in Nashville throughout the year, and student-athletes take part annually in sports evangelism mission trips to South Africa, Ukraine and Brazil. Others have taken advantage of what they're learning at Belmont, incorporating their major studies into various service projects around the world, including working with orphans in India and assisting with physical therapy needs in Guatemala.

The stereotypical college party, with its keg stands and top 40 soundtrack, is definitely not the norm on Belmont’s “dry campus,” located “a block or two from [Nashville’s] Music Row.” Instead of partying, “People think about what they are going to do with the rest of their lives using the talents they have acquired. For fun, people play instruments, eat, and just watch movies or attend concerts” with performers “ranging from small, unsigned artists to major recording artists.” “Everyone has music on their mind”; students “go downtown to the Wildhorse Saloon, The Bluebird Cafe,” or the “Grand Ole Opry.” The same goes on campus, where “At any given moment, you can hear someone practicing or performing.” Belmont’s predominantly religious students appreciate the option to attend “a Bible Study every night of the week.” Nontraditional students report little involvement in college life: “The working adults have full-time jobs during the day that they have to mold class schedules around, and they pretty much stick to themselves.”
