Financial Aid
Student Financial Aid is available for students who qualify. All aid is based upon financial need, academic achievement and/or meritorious performance. Financial aid is viewed as a supplement to the effort of the family to finance their student's college education. In order to receive federal or state financial aid, students must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year (add Graceland's code: 001866), and maintain satisfactory academic progress. Institutional scholarships/grants may be awarded to full-time students for academics, athletics, performing arts, and for Community of Christ students. When Graceland University receives all documents needed to complete a Financial Aid Package, an award notice will be sent to the student for review. More than 98 percent of Graceland residential students receive some form of financial aid.

Graceland sponsors more than 40 student clubs and organizations. GU boasts 20 varsity and numerous junior varsity teams and a variety of performing arts groups including a new drumline.
The basic residential and social unit of student life is known as a "House." The house system at Graceland on the Lamoni campus is a unique program that started in the 1960s and is based on the principle of inclusion. The importance of each student is recognized. Unlike fraternities and sororities, every student is involved in the house system. Members of each house elect a leadership council that plans social events and represents students in Student Government. By cooperative effort, the house organizes its own social, religious and intramural programs. Each student determines the extent of his/her participation in all house activities. Graceland students love this community approach to residential life with a built-in social system where all students are welcomed and made to feel at home.
Students on the Lamoni campus hail from more than 40 states and 20 countries. Graceland's International Club is a hub of constant activity. GU is committed to providing an environment free of alcohol, tobacco and drugs. Graceland cares about spiritual life. Whatever faith tradition, GU students' spiritual lives are nurtured through a wide range of worship experiences, service projects and religion classes in an environment that is accepting with opportunities to learn and grow.

From The School
Location
Situated on 170 acres of southern Iowa's rolling hills, our main campus in Lamoni is home to just under 1,000 students and provides a beautiful, safe, residential campus where diversity of thought and culture are celebrated.
Graceland University integrates learning inside and outside of the classroom and provides limitless opportunities for involvement in educational service, leadership and entertainment activities.
Graceland's Independence, Missouri, campus offers online learning opportunities-both graduate and undergraduate-in nursing, religion and education.
Life at Graceland includes forums and guest speakers on the current issues of the day; community service projects; poetry readings at a downtown coffee house; new opportunities in an active sustainability group or more than 40 other club organizations; as well as quiet time in a relaxed, countryside setting.
In 2012, Graceland's Lamoni campus finished construction of the $1.6 million Fitzgerald Fitness Center, a new student wellness center with a group exercise area and a variety of weight and cardio equipment.
Graceland also re-introduced the Shaw Center in the fall of 2012 after the $16 million expansion and renovation project. The Shaw Center features JR Theatre, a state-of-the-art black box facility; Carol Hall, an acoustically perfect recital hall; the Shaw Family Auditorium, with over 500 seating capacity; the outdoor Amphitheatre for spring jazz concerts and more. The Shaw Center is one of the most remarkable performing arts venues in Iowa.
The Resch Science and Technology Hall was dedicated in 2009. It provides state-of-the-art science and mathematics facilities. Nearly everything, including the computer science equipment, is new and industry-standard in Resch Hall. The Helene Center for the Visual Arts (2004) includes 29,000 square feet of classrooms, studios and exhibit space, and a large Mac lab with industry standard programs. It is regarded by artists as "the perfect place to be creative."
Campus computer facilities include three microcomputer labs and industry standard equipment for desktop publishing and graphic design. Graceland's Internet Café provides 24-hour computer and printing access in a cozy atmosphere.
Our Closson Athletic Center boasts an indoor track and field facility with a beautiful hardwood basketball and volleyball court. We have a FieldTurf (an artificial turf football field), a wonderful outdoor track facility with a Rekortan track installed in 2016, and a top soccer complex with a new pitch in 2017 with multiple practice fields. The new Baughman Athletic Center boasts a large wrestling practice room, new locker facilities and an indoor pitching area for the baseball and softball teams.
The Frederick Madison Smith Library, housing the Student Success Studio, uses the latest technologies to provide information services to accommodate student needs. Fully networked computer workstations offer access to the internet and many research databases, including seven reference databases and more than 45 periodical databases, many providing access to full-text articles. Access to LIBBIE, the library's online catalog, and to the online reference sources is available to all patrons. Articles and books may be ordered from a worldwide network of research libraries.

Off-Campus Opportunities
Lamoni is a small, friendly town with a big heart. There's an old-fashioned pizza place, a bustling coffee house and a university-owned movie theater, called The Coliseum, all just a five-minute walk from campus. It's easy to venture into the Lamoni community. Hike around a beautiful nearby lake or use new city bike trails by checking out one of the GU sustainability bikes available. Popular lakes at Slip Bluff County Park and Nine Eagles State Park offer swimming, boating, fishing and camping, and both are only a few miles away. There are close bonds between Graceland and the small but vibrant town of Lamoni, home to 1,383 residents. Des Moines is just a little over an hour north providing all the amenities of a large city.
