Hofstra University is a diverse, dynamic community where you can pursue your passions, with a greater purpose. Our classes are small, and our programs are tailored to empower students to seek, shape, and discover their own educational and career path.
Live, work, and play on a suburban campus with landscaped quads and ivy-covered buildings that's less than an hour by train from New York City, with its countless cultural, recreational, and internship opportunities.
Build leadership skills through varied clubs, organizations, and service projects. Our students log 100,000 volunteer hours every year, and Hofstra has been recognized by the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for seven consecutive years.
Hofstra University is internationally recognized by U.S. News & World Report, The Princeton Review, and PayScale College ROI and Salary Reports. We are the only university to host three consecutive U.S. presidential debates (2008, 2012, and 2016), and one of only three universities in the New York metropolitan area with schools of engineering, medicine, and law.
Our more than 11,000 students come from 50 states and territories and 82 countries, but they share an entrepreneurial spirit, a curiosity about the world, and a desire to make a difference. At Hofstra, you will be challenged, you will be supported, you will discover your best self.
You will be a world changer.

Students Say
Academically, undergrads especially love to highlight the “impressive” Lawrence Herbert School of Communications, which is flush with some rather unique opportunities. For example, as one amazed students explains, Hofstra’s radio station—WRHU— “is the ONLY college radio station to be a flagship station for a professional sports team. We are the radio home for the New York Islanders.” Across all courses of study, Hofstra undergrads benefit from “small” class sizes. In turn, this gives students “a better opportunity to connect with their professors and advisors” than they’d have in large lectures. And, speaking of professors, the university consistently hires instructors who are “very knowledgeable and passionate about their subjects.” It’s also quite evident that they “really care about their students and want them to succeed.” Finally, as one thrilled dance major sums up, “I could not put together a better university if I tried.”

Location
Hofstra is a global community just 25 miles east of Manhattan. Our 244-acre campus is a nationally registered arboretum with 75 outdoor sculptures that blooms with thousands of tulips every spring.
Students can choose to live in one of our 35 residence halls, each with a unique flair, community, and life of its own. We also offer 10 living-learning communities, in which students live with classmates in the same programs, or who share the same passion for leadership, health professions, or the arts.
Campus Facilities & Equipment
Connect with the real world through experiential learning in our cutting-edge facilities, including the Martin B. Greenberg Trading Room; WRHU-88.7 FM, Radio Hofstra University; a big data lab; a robotics and advanced manufacturing lab; and a cell and tissue engineering lab. Hofstra also boasts six theaters, as well as the most historically accurate replica of Shakespeare's original Globe stage in the U.S., which is used for the University's annual Shakespeare Festival.
The David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex is a 5,023-seat arena that is home to the Hofstra Pride men's wrestling team and the men's and women's basketball teams.
Our nationally accredited museum has a permanent collection of more than 5,000 works of art.
Off-Campus Opportunities
Hofstra extends learning beyond the classroom through internship programs, a Co-op program, and study abroad opportunities. Our internship programs capitalize on the University's proximity to New York City, allowing students to gain on-the-job experience in areas such as advertising, business, entertainment, finance, and media. The Co-op program at the Fred DeMatteis School of Engineering and Applied Science offers students paid work experience in a field related to their major.
Study abroad programs are offered in Europe, Asia, South America, and more. Students can explore the world while enhancing their college experience and earning course credits. Learn more at hofstra.edu/studyabroad.
