Le Moyne College

While each major department has its own sequence requirements for the minimum 120 credit hours needed for the Le Moyne degree, the College is convinced that there is a fundamental intellectual discipline that should characterize the graduate of a superior liberal arts college. Le Moyne's interdisciplinary core curriculum provides the foundation by including studies of English language and literature, mathematics, philosophy, history, theology and religion, natural science, and social science to reflect international trends within a liberal arts education.

For exceptional students, Le Moyne offers an integral honors program that includes an interdisciplinary humanities sequence as well as departmental honors courses. The study-abroad program allows qualified students to spend a semester or year in numerous countries around the world. Thanks in part to a network of Jesuit colleges across the globe, Le Moyne College has virtually unlimited study-abroad programs or affiliations in locations such as Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, England, Germany, Ireland, Scotland, and Spain. Students can also use partner programs to study in locations such as Australia, Costa Rica, Egypt, France, Italy, Japan, and South Africa. Le Moyne is a participant in the sixty-member New York State Visiting Student Program.

As part of the mission of preparing future leaders, Le Moyne College places a strong emphasis on career preparation through internships and other forms of experiential education. Academic departments and the Office of Career Advising and Development both provide programs and services for students interested in interning part time and full time, both locally and in major cities such as New York and Washington, D.C.

The Offices of Service Learning and the Academic Deans are also involved in experiential education to promote learning outside the classroom. In the sciences, students take part in campus research with faculty mentors. Others receive assistance in pursuing outstanding opportunities off campus in leading research laboratories and health-care settings. Through the College's long-standing relationship with The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars, students from all majors complete full-time semester-long internships in Washington, D.C., with government, business, or major nonprofit organizations. Faculty members in the Department of Political Science assist students interested in opportunities in Albany, N.Y., the state's seat of government, with either the State Senate or Assembly. Finally, the education programs at Le Moyne put students into school classrooms starting immediately as freshmen and continuing each year until graduation. Le Moyne students may enroll in Army and Air Force ROTC programs in conjunction with Syracuse University.

Le Moyne College awards the Bachelor of Arts degree in biological sciences, communication and film studies, computer science, criminology, cybersecurity, economics, english (creative writing, literature), French, history, mathematics (actuarial science, applied mathematics, pure mathematics, statistics), peace and global studies, philosophy, physics, political science, psychology, religious studies, sociology (anthropology, criminology, human services, research and theory), software application and system development, Spanish, and theatre arts. The Bachelor of Science degree is awarded in biochemistry, biological sciences, chemistry, economics, environmental science systems, environmental studies, physics, and psychology. The Bachelor of Science in business is awarded in accounting, business analytics, finance, human resource management, information systems, management and leadership, and marketing. A Bachelor of Science in nursing is also offered. Students may minor in advanced writing, arts administration, Catholic studies, classical humanities, film, gender and women's studies, health information systems, Irish literature, Italian, Latin, legal studies, medieval studies, music, or visual arts as well as most of the major fields of study offered. Pre-professional programs are offered in dentistry, law, medicine, optometry, physical therapy, physician assistant studies, podiatry, dental medicine, occupational therapy, and veterinary science. Students may prepare for teaching careers through certification programs in adolescent education, dual adolescent/special education, dual childhood/special education, and TESOL.

Le Moyne College and the L. C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science at Syracuse University have a dual-degree program in which students may earn a bachelor's degree from Le Moyne and a master's degree in engineering from Syracuse University in as few as five and a half years. Concentrations include aerospace, bioengineering, chemical, civil/structural, computer, electrical, environmental, geotechnical, and mechanical engineering.

Formal accelerated 3+3 and 3+4 programs are offered in physical therapy, law, optometry, communication, public administration, forensic science, library science, and podiatry in cooperation with the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Dentistry, New York College of Podiatric Medicine, School of Information Studies at Syracuse University, Forensic and National Security Sciences Institute at Syracuse University, S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication at Syracuse University, Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University, and Syracuse University College of Law, among others
