Le Moyne College is a four-year, coeducational Jesuit college of approximately 2,800 full-time undergraduate students that uniquely balances a comprehensive liberal arts education with preparation for specific career paths or graduate study.
Founded in 1946, Le Moyne is the second youngest of the twenty-eight Jesuit colleges and universities in the United States. Its emphasis is on the education of the whole person and on the search for meaning and value as integral parts of an intellectual life. Learning, leadership and service are the hallmarks of a Le Moyne College education. Those values are evident in the College's undergraduate majors in more than 40 programs of study including pre-professional studies and graduate programs in business administration, arts administration, education, nursing, occupational therapy, information systems and physician assistant studies.
Le Moyne's personal approach to education is reflected in the quality of contact between students and faculty members. With approximately 150 full-time faculty members, Le Moyne has a student-faculty ratio of 13:1 and an average class size of 20.

Le Moyne seeks qualified students who are well-prepared for serious academic study. Secondary school preparation must have included at least 17 college-preparatory high school units, 4 of which must be in English, 4 in social studies, 3-4 in mathematics, 3-4 in foreign language, and 3-4 in science. It is also recommended that prospective science and mathematics majors complete 4 units of mathematics and science. Le Moyne is test optional, which means SAT and/or ACT scores are not required for admission. However, test scores must be submitted to be considered for top academic scholarships, for certain programs of study, for students who have been Home Schooled, and for international students for whom English is not a first language. SAT and/or ACT exams should be taken no later than December or January of the senior year in high school for test scores to be submitted as part of the application. Campus visits are strongly recommended, as the admission process is a personal one. As bases for selection, academic achievement and secondary school recommendations are of primary importance. Out-of-state students are encouraged to apply.
Le Moyne offers students the opportunity to apply in two ways: early action or regular admission. The early action program is nonbinding and provides high school students the opportunity to receive an admission decision starting December 15 of their senior year. The early action application deadline is November 15. Regular admission applications are reviewed and admission decisions are made on a rolling basis beginning January 1.The priority deadline for applications is February 1; all students who wish to be considered for academic merit scholarships should have a completed application on file in the Office of Admission before this date. Transfer students are encouraged to apply before August 1 for the fall semester and December 1 for the spring semester. Orientation programs for incoming freshmen take place in June and early July. Transfer student orientation programs are offered throughout the summer.

Academic Programs
While each major department has its own sequence requirements for the minimum 120 credit hours needed for the Le Moyne degree, the College is convinced that there is a fundamental intellectual discipline that should characterize the graduate of a superior liberal arts college. Le Moyne's interdisciplinary core curriculum provides the foundation by including studies of English language and literature, mathematics, philosophy, history, theology and religion, natural science, and social science to reflect international trends within a liberal arts education.
For exceptional students, Le Moyne offers an integral honors program that includes an interdisciplinary humanities sequence as well as departmental honors courses. The study-abroad program allows qualified students to spend a semester or year in numerous countries around the world. Thanks in part to a network of Jesuit colleges across the globe, Le Moyne College has virtually unlimited study-abroad programs or affiliations in locations such as Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, England, Germany, Ireland, Scotland, and Spain. Students can also use partner programs to study in locations such as Australia, Costa Rica, Egypt, France, Italy, Japan, and South Africa. Le Moyne is a participant in the sixty-member New York State Visiting Student Program.
As part of the mission of preparing future leaders, Le Moyne College places a strong emphasis on career preparation through internships and other forms of experiential education. Academic departments and the Office of Career Advising and Development both provide programs and services for students interested in interning part time and full time, both locally and in major cities such as New York and Washington, D.C.
The Offices of Service Learning and the Academic Deans are also involved in experiential education to promote learning outside the classroom. In the sciences, students take part in campus research with faculty mentors. Others receive assistance in pursuing outstanding opportunities off campus in leading research laboratories and health-care settings. Through the College's long-standing relationship with The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars, students from all majors complete full-time semester-long internships in Washington, D.C., with government, business, or major nonprofit organizations. Faculty members in the Department of Political Science assist students interested in opportunities in Albany, N.Y., the state's seat of government, with either the State Senate or Assembly. Finally, the education programs at Le Moyne put students into school classrooms starting immediately as freshmen and continuing each year until graduation. Le Moyne students may enroll in Army and Air Force ROTC programs in conjunction with Syracuse University.

Students Say
One of Le Moyne’s greatest strengths is the amount of help available to students. “Between office hours, the Academic Support Center and friendly upperclassmen, your questions will be answered!” promises a student. “Small intimate class sizes” mean that “professors are always willing to help students,” and nothing is taught by TAs so “it is easy to foster a personal connection with you professors.” Classes are “intellectually challenging,” the honors program is “very worthwhile,” and the majority of professors really “try to bring the material to life.” They “bring in outside information that connects with the material we are learning, which I find helps spark discussions with every person in the class.” “I have learned so much in so little time. And I have evolved a thirst for more,” says a freshman chemistry major.
Strong nursing and business programs stand out in this “active learning community,” as does the desire to keep the college “a place of high moral values.” Some of the facilities on school such as the science labs or library “could be renovated,” but luckily nearly all the classrooms are accessible within buildings connected by tunnels and hallways, eliminating the need to travel outside from class to class (a huge benefit in the freezing, and long, Central NY winters).

Financial Aid
Le Moyne has worked tirelessly to contain costs while providing students with an excellent education. The College commits more than $45 million annually to financial aid, which is used to help 95 percent of its students. The average financial aid for a first year student is about $25,000, an amount that includes Le Moyne scholarships, need-based grants from the College, and federal and state grants and loans. The College has earned recognition from the editors at Barron's and U.S. News & World Reports as one of America's "Best Buys in College Education."
There are a number ways in which students can receive help financing their education, including loans, scholarships, grants and work-study opportunities. The College awards numerous merit-based and programor major-based endowed scholarships, as well as athletic scholarships.
A student's eligibility for need-based financial aid is determined from both the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Le Moyne Financial Aid Application Form. It is recommended that these forms be mailed by February 1.

A wide range of student-directed activities, athletics, clubs, and service organizations complement the academic experience. Intramural sports are very popular with Le Moyne students; nearly 85 percent of the students participate. Le Moyne also has twenty-one NCAA intercollegiate teams (ten for men and eleven for women). Roughly 85 percent of students live in residence halls, apartments, and town houses on campus. Students Say
The school keeps students pleasantly busy, and “offers a lot of activities around the campus [so] you will never get bored.” Le Moyne offers “free tickets to concerts and SU basketball games” and “puts on a lot of fun events such as movie nights… comedy improv groups, and other performers.” “Partying is a big factor here,” and students often head up to Syracuse or to the campus bar on weekends. However, there is “a pretty sizable portion of students who don’t like to go out” and there are always programs going on at night, such as “a snow tubing trip, bowling trip, and an on-campus Pinterest Live! Event…in addition to Trivia Night at the on-campus pub, of course!”
