With more than 80 majors, 55 plus minors, six preprofessional options, combined master's programs, and a Ph.D. program, NU students are immersed in meaningful real-world learning opportunities from the moment they step foot on the university's beautiful campus.
Niagara's colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Education, and Hospitality and Tourism Management offer programs at the baccalaureate, master's and doctoral level. All four of the university's academic colleges have received the highest rankings from the top accreditation boards in their fields. In addition, the university offers an award-winning Academic Exploration program for students who are undecided about their academic major.
A student-to-faculty ratio of 12:1 and an average class size of approximately 20allow for personal attention and classroom interaction. The faculty members at Niagara are internationally renowned for their abilities as researchers and teachers, helping students to accomplish things they never thought possible. A recent survey indicated that 97 percent of Niagara's graduating class was employed or enrolled in graduate school within one year of graduation.
Niagara offers a wide variety of entertainment options on and off-campus, including trips to professional sporting events, local landmarks, concerts, malls, restaurants and cultural festivals in the U.S. and nearby Ontario, Canada. And with 18 Division I athletics programs, there are numerous chances for NU students to put their "Purple Pride" on full display.

From The School
Niagara University welcomes students who have demonstrated aptitude and academic achievement at the high school level. The university has adopted a test optional admissions policy for most first-year undergraduate applicants, beginning with the fall 2018 entry year.
Niagara has joined a growing number of the nation's most competitive and well-respected institutions by giving students the option to submit or withhold standardized test scores (SAT/ACT) as part of their admissions application.
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will continue to accept standardized test scores from students who believe their results are reflective of their academic abilities to succeed at the university. If they feel that it doesn't reflect their ability and academic skills, they have the option of not submitting.
The few exceptions to this test optional policy include students who are seeking entrance into a nursing or biology major, those who wish to be considered for Trustees or Presidential Scholarships, students looking to apply for science-related scholarships such as NUSURF (Niagara University Science Undergraduate Research Fellowship), and homeschooled students

Academic Programs
Niagara University's curricula enable students to pursue their academic preferences and to complete courses that lead to proficiency in other academic areas. Courses that have been considered upper-division courses are available to all students. This provides students with the opportunity to avoid introductory and survey courses and permits motivated students to take advantage of more challenging courses early in their collegiate career. The honors program provides special academic opportunities that stimulate, encourage and challenge participants. In addition, an accelerated three-year degree program is offered to qualified students. Students pursuing a bachelor's degree must complete a total of 40 or 42 course units (120 or 126 credit hours) to meet graduation requirements. Niagara grants credit for successful scores on the Advanced Placement and the College-Level Examination Program and the International Baccalaureate tests. Internships, research, independent study, study abroad and cooperative education are available in many academic programs. An Army-ROTC program is also offered. NU is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Its programs in the respective areas are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), AACSB International–The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, and the Council on Social Work Education, and the chemistry department has the approval of the American Chemical Society. The travel, hotel and restaurant administration program is accredited by the Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration.

Holding the highest accreditations possible in both the United States and Canada—the United States Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and Canada's Ontario College of Teachers—Niagara University's College of Education provides students with an option of earning dual certification to teach in both countries. The College of Education offers bachelor's degree programs leading to New York State initial certification in early childhood and childhood (birth–6), childhood and middle childhood (grades 1–9), middle childhood and adolescence (grades 5–12), special education and childhood (grades 1-6), special education and adolescence (grades 7-12), and in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). All education majors pursue an academic concentration to establish expertise in one of the following subject areas: business & marketing, English, French, liberal arts, mathematics, social studies, and Spanish. Business education is offered only for grades 5–12. The academic concentration in liberal arts can only be pursued in the early childhood and childhood (birth–grade 6), and special education and childhood (grades 1–6). Most other states, and Puerto Rico, have reciprocity agreements with New York, so an NU education would qualify education majors to teach in those states as well.
The College of Hospitality and Tourism Management provides a career-oriented curriculum leading to a B.S. degree in three specific areas: hotel and restaurant management (with concentrations in food and beverage management; luxury hospitality operations; and hotel planning, development, and operations), sport management (with concentrations in sport operations and revenue management), and tourism and recreation management (with concentrations in event and meeting management and tourism destination management). The College of Hospitality and Tourism Management offered the world's first bachelor's degree in tourism. NU's hotel and restaurant program, the second oldest in New York state, has the distinction of being the seventh program nationally to be accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration by the Council of Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education. The College introduces students to a comprehensive body of knowledge about the hotel, restaurant, tourism, and recreational areas and applies this knowledge to current industry challenges. The College requires that its students accumulate 800 hours of industry-related experience. These and other practical experiences offer NU students the knowledge necessary to advance in the field. Students work with industry leaders in classroom projects, join academic clubs and professional organizations, and participate in special trips to trade shows and conventions and specially designed study-abroad experiences, making NU a national leader in the area.
For students who are undecided about which major to choose, Niagara University offers its award-winning Academic Exploration Program (AEP). AEP provides a structured opportunity for students to participate in a thorough, organized process of selecting a major that meets their academic talents and career goals while fulfilling requirements to graduate with classmates on time.

Overview
From The School
Tuition, Room, Board and Fees
Tuition for 2017–18 was $30,500. Room and board (with a choice of meal plans) cost an additional $12,950 per year. Fees were estimated at $1,450 per year.
Financial Aid
The highest in quality, Niagara is also an exceptional value – a prestigious private university education at a reasonable cost when financial aid packages are taken into account.
Ninety-nine percent of entering freshmen and transfers receive financial aid. This aid may come in the form of merit scholarships, loans, grants, or campus employment. Students seeking financial assistance should file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). New York State residents should also file a Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) application.
Niagara University offers a program (NUOP) that provides institutional admittance as well as financial and intensive academic assistance to students who otherwise would not meet admission criteria.
Additionally, the Level Tuition Program allows first semester freshmen to "lock in" one tuition rate for four consecutive years. This makes it much easier for students and families to budget the cost of their education.
Finally, Niagara's NUSTEP program reduces the overall cost of attendance by providing high school students with opportunities to obtain college credits.
