Academics

Pace University is a private university that’s bursting with opportunity. With campuses in New York City and Westchester County, Pace easily capitalizes on its location, connecting students with jobs and internships throughout the New York metro area. Academically, students are quick to highlight the “good” business program as well as the stellar performing arts school. No matter what you choose to study, classes at Pace tend to be “small,” a fact that many students here love. After all, small classes allows for a lot of “one-on-one interactions with professors.” And speaking of professors, while they can definitely run the gamut, most are truly “passionate about their work and subject field.” In turn, that passion helps them conduct “engaging and interesting” classes. Instructors here are also great about incorporating “real world perspective[s]” into their courses. Students report that their professors are “very warm” and certainly “willing to meet up with you outside of the classroom.” As one satisfied undergrad explains, “They want you to understand the material and are never out to get you.” It’s also quite evident that they really “try to get to know their students on a more personal level, rather than strictly academic.” All in all, Pace provides “a sense of community [that] truly helps with the transition [to] college life.”

Student Body

“Pace University has an exceptionally diverse group of students.” Indeed, the student body “is very reflective of the city around us.” One undergrad explains, “In one of my classes, I sit near someone from Albania, someone from Korea, someone from Kazakhstan, and someone from Georgia (the country). It’s very interesting and I never walk through a crowded hallway without hearing a language other than English.” Another student brags, “My peers span race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, experience, interests, and culture. Every single person [at] Pace contributes to the wide and unique flavor of the student body.” Regardless of their backgrounds, students here tend to be “hyper involved and busy to the umpteenth degree.” And they all seem to have a “strong desire to succeed.” An undergrad clarifies, “Pace students are hungry for internships and real-world experience in their field of study. They want to be out in the workforce as soon as they graduate.” But most importantly, these students are “very friendly and amiable.” Perhaps this individual sums up the campus culture best: “No matter who I meet, I always get the same friendly welcoming aura where I can be myself and not have to worry about anyone judging me.”

Campus Life

You have to really work hard to be bored at Pace. Certainly, students spend the majority of their time studying. And a large number also “have internships” to boot. But beyond academics, we’re told that the university “offers many clubs to get involved with and there are always opportunities for [events happening] around campus.” More specifically, “there are...sports games, Greek life activities, premieres, scavenger hunts, games, etc. going on.” On the weekends, undergrads at the Westchester campus tend to gravitate towards the school’s town houses. Students frequently “just hang out [there] in big groups of people and meet new friends.” And of course, these undergrads love that New York City is right at their fingertips. For example, Pace students “get access to discount[ed] Broadway tickets as well as movie and museum tickets.” Additionally, many undergrads be found “explor[ing] the city,” be it wandering around Central Park, South Street Seaport or the Metropolitan Museum of Art. As this ecstatic student states, “You are in NYC, the greatest city in the world (in my opinion); what isn’t there to do?”
