For extracurricular activities, Radford University students can choose over 300 clubs and organizations, hundreds of intramural teams, and men's and women's NCAA sports teams. In addition, the Campus Activities Board sponsors weekly movies, lectures, debates and late-night programs, including well-known performers. Students also enjoy the open green spaces on campus for pick-up sports with friends or for solitude while studying. And as an acclaimed “green” campus, students actively participate in sustainability efforts. The university offers a variety of undergraduate research opportuities, unique to many colleges, both on-campus and off-campus in the community and at unique locations such as Alaska, the Carribean and the Amazon. In 2016, the university opened the 114,000-square-foot Center for the Sciences, which also has a state-of-the-art planetarium, Museum of the Earth Sciences and award-winning Radfor Universit Forensic Science Institute) and 143,600-square-foot College of Humanities and Behavioral Sciences (that includes a large Starbucks) - both with modern classrooms, laboratories and technology that foster collaborative learning and research.

Radford University views everything that an applicant submits in an effort to get to know that individual as well as possible. Applications are reviewed by members of the Admissions committee in an effort to select potential Radford University students who we believe would not only find academic success at Radford, but also become positive contributors to our community and the Radford family.
To this end, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions reviews academic transcripts, the strengths of an applicant's high school curriculum, standardized testing and all other materials submitted.
Students interested in applying to Radford University may do so online at no cost. Applicants with a 3.20 GPA (on a 4.00 scale) may elect to be considered for admission without submitting their Scholastic Assessment Test I (SAT I) or American College Testing Program (ACT). For in-state undergraduate students for the 2018-19 academic year, full-time tuition, fees, room and board (12-18 hours per semester) runs between $20,593 and $20,720, depending on the meal plan chosen. For commuter in-state students, tuition and fees is $11,210 per year. Out-of-state undergraduates, living on-campus in 2018-19 can expect to pay approximately $32,687. Radford University uses the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as the primary document-delete to determine aid eligibility. The FAFSA for the 2019-2020 academic year is available starting October 1, 2018. Be sure to file your FAFSA by the priority filing date of Dec 1. Living at Radford University
More than 3,000 students live on-campus across 15 residence halls and in living-learning communities, including the new Schoolhouse and Entrepreneur communities. In total, more than 80 percent of our students live on-campus or in off-campus housing within walking distance to the university. Themed housing, including Honors Academy, visual and performing arts and College of Science and Information Technology majors create unique learning communities for qualified interested students.
There are nearly a dozen different places to eat on campus, including familiar options such as Chick-fil-A, Starbucks, Wendy's, Papa John's, and many more. Traditional dining hall options are also available. Intramurals, club sports, Greek life, leadership opportunities, volunteer opportunities, community service, on-and off-campus employment enrich your experience at Radford University.
Campus Facilities & Equipment
Since 2005, more than $330 million has been spent on new construction and renovations to existing buildings on campus, providing cutting-edge academic classrooms and labs, modern residence halls and a modern, well-maintained campus.
To provide state-of-the-art exercise facilities, Radford University unveiled the Student Recreation and Wellness Center, which opened in fall 2014. Inside the 115,000-square-foot facility, students have access to a three-court gymnasium, a Multipurpose Activity Court (MAC), two racquetball courts, and 15,000 square feet of strength and cardio fitness space. Four Group Exercise/Fitness Studios to serve various fitness classes, yoga, and indoor cycling. Additionally, an inclined indoor track spans two levels with beautiful views of the campus and surrounding area. The MAC court is available for large gathering and sponsored student activity events. The state-of-the-art facility is home to Intramurals, RU Outdoors, Fitness & Wellness and the Sports Club programs.
In August 2016, the new home for the College of Humanities and Behavioral Sciences (CHBS) was officially opened. The 143,600-square-foot building is the largest academic building at Radford University's campus and houses all of the college's academic units. The state-of-the-art space features a 90-seat tiered classroom, multiple collaborative learning spaces for student use, office space, integrated inquiry environments and the CHBS Advising Center. It also features a mock trial/moot courtroom, a television studio, a forensic laboratory and an Emergency Management Center.
The home for the College of Business and Economics, Kyle Hall, is a $44 million complex features state-of-the-art laboratories and classrooms with the latest technological and financial research capabilities for Radford's 1,500 business majors. Multipurpose areas are available to alumni and the community, and a trading room with running stock quotes and a continual data feed are located within the building.
In January 2016, classes were held inside the new Center for the Sciences. The new complex encompasses an existing 1930s-era Georgian building and a Modernist 1960s addition to that building. The $49 million, 115,000-square-foot complex includes faculty and staff offices, teaching and research laboratories and space for the Museum of the Earth Sciences and the Radford University Planetarium. Reed and Curie Halls, which are attached to the Center for the Sciences, are currently undergoing renovations.
