What are the admissions requirements?
St. Joseph's College is a selective institution. Applicants are evaluated on an individual basis. The College enrolls students who are academically talented and diverse. Successful admissions candidates typically have:
- A high school diploma or its equivalent, or postsecondary transcripts.
- A personal statement or essay of recommendation.
- Standardized test scores that demonstrate the promise of success in college-level courses.
- Two letters of recommendation and a personal essay.

When should I apply? When is the application deadline?
SJC admits students on a rolling basis, but there are scholarship priority dates. For the fall semester, the scholarship priority date is March 15 for freshmen and August 1 for transfer students. For the spring semester, the priority date is January 1 for both freshmen and transfer students.
What do I need to submit as a transfer student?
Applications can be submitted by mail or online. Transfer students should request that official transcripts from all former colleges, and a listing of courses in progress, be sent to our Office of Admissions. You are not required to submit a high school transcript if you have an A.A. degree or have successfully completed 24 or more credits from an accredited college. You may transfer a maximum of 64 credits if you have an A.A. degree; certain A.A.S. degrees are also transferable.

As a core member of the Servicemembers Opportunity College Degree Network System, SJC is committed to the transfer of relevant course credits, flexible academic residence requirements and credit learning from appropriate military training and work experience. SJC also offers online, on-and off-site class schedules for its military and veteran students, including class offerings at Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn and Fort Wadsworth in Staten Island, New York. In addition, SJC is an active participant in the Post-9/11 GI Bill® Yellow Ribbon Program, offering veteran students financial support, a monthly housing allowance and an annual stipend for books and school supplies.

SJC Brooklyn
Architecturally stunning halls in the historic Clinton Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn, an outdoor theater, The Hill Center and the nationally recognized Dillon Child Study Center combine to make SJC Brooklyn a unique community. The recently opened Hill Center is home to SJC Brooklyn's NCAA Division III athletic teams. It features a regulation-size gymnasium, a state-of-the-art fitness facility and many multipurpose areas. Career opportunities and extensive cultural attractions in Manhattan are within reach via public transportation.
SJC Long Island
SJC Long Island's 32-acre lakeside campus features the Business Technology Center, the John A. Danzi Athletic Center, the Clare Rose Playhouse, the Callahan Library and the state-of-the-art 24.8-acre outdoor athletic field complex for soccer, lacrosse, baseball, softball and tennis. SJC Long Island is located in Patchogue and is just minutes from the Great South Bay, L.I. MacArthur Airport, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Orient Point and many of Long Island's ocean beaches. New York City is just a short ride away.
Service
Service is at the heart of a St. Joseph's education. Students volunteer at numerous organizations throughout the year and often participate in service-based trips, where they help rebuild communities that have been affected by hurricanes, earthquakes and other natural disasters. Service-based destinations have included Colorado, South Carolina, Missouri, New Jersey and Nicaragua.
