Undergraduate Admission: High School graduates may be admitted as Freshmen to Troy University on the basis of acceptable high school records (a 2.0 Grade Point Average) and scores achieved on the American College Testing Program (minimum composite of 20 on the ACT) or the Scholastic Aptitude Test (minimum composite of 950 or 1030 if taken since March 2016). Applicants who are 25 years of age or older are not required to submit ACT/SAT scores for admission to the university. All applicants who are graduates of accredited high schools must submit an official transcript showing graduation and a minimum of fifteen Carnegie units, with three or more units in English. Of the units presented, eleven must be in academic courses. Applicants who are graduates of non-accredited secondary schools may be admitted provided they meet the same requirements as students from accredited schools. Pending judgment of the Admissions Committee, these students are expected to complete satisfactory academic work.
Undergraduate students applying to Troy University will be charged a $30 application fee.
Graduate Admission: Those students wishing to apply to Troy University to pursue graduate degrees must submit a letter of recommendation and final official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended, including the degree granted and award date. Graduate students must submit official test score results for the GRE, the MAT or the GMAT.
Graduate students applying to Troy University will be charged a $50 application fee.

A “great, small-town university” with a pleasant Southern atmosphere, Troy University is a comfortable place to get an undergraduate degree. Students praise the academic experience saying, “Teachers are easy to work with, and smaller class sizes create a wonderful learning environment.” Like other colleges, your experience at Troy “really depends on what department you choose” and “general academic classes can be less informative” than major coursework. However, “Professors are, for the most part, well-rounded, educated, and politically-open people,” and they are “always willing to help” a struggling student. The school is generally well-run, with “strong leadership from top to bottom,” and an administrative staff that is “kind, courteous, and helpful.” While many would like the administration to directly address student concerns (like the parking shortage), students are happy to report that, “Troy has the air of growth and expansion,” and the “administration at Troy works hard to provide for the university and make it a better place.”

Tuition, Room, Board and Fees
Undergraduate tuition for the 2018-2019 academic year is $325 per credit hour for in-state students, and $650 per credit hour for out-of-state students. Graduate tuition for the 2018-2019 academic year is $425 per credit hour for in-state students and $850 per credit hour for out-of-state students.
Fees charged each semester include:
- General University fee-$42 per credit hour
- Registration fee-$50 per semester
- Registration fee (Phenix City, Montgomery and Dothan) — $25 per term
- Student Facility fee (Troy Campus only)-$100 per semester in fall and spring semesters and $50 in summer semester.

The University's Troy Campus is home to a diverse student population, including students from across the United States and more than 1,000 international students representing more than 76 countries.
Students on the Troy Campus have a variety of opportunities to enrich their college experience. Troy students have nearly 200 student organizations from which to choose, including fraternities and sororities, academic/professional clubs, honor societies, leadership and service groups, political and special interest organizations, religious groups, performing groups and campus publications.
One of the campus' largest student organizations is the Sound of the South Marching Band, which includes students from each of the University's five colleges. A variety of performing ensembles are also available through the John M. Long School of Music.
Leadership opportunities are available through participation in the Student Government Association, the Freshman Forum, Trojan Ambassadors, and IMPACT orientation leaders, among others.
In addition, the Office of Service Learning and Civic Engagement, a part of the John W. Schmidt Center for Student Success, connects Troy University students to applied learning opportunities where students can develop skills in leadership, project management and civic action, while making a difference in the local community. Current student Service Learning and Civic Engagement initiatives include: poverty and hunger, sustainability, healthy futures and community action and outreach.

Troy is a largely local university, and, for the majority of undergraduates, campus is just “about 50 miles or so away from home.” Therefore, most students—many from small towns in Alabama—“come to Troy and fit right in with the community and students.” “The most typical student would be a southern, Christian, republican;” however, there is diversity among the student body—including a large international population. A current student tells us, “Growing up in the South, it is [among] the most diverse places I have ever been.” Students appreciate the fact that Troy attracts “so many different types of people from all over the world,” though they admit that the international students often “do not mix” with their American classmates. On the whole, Troy students are “pretty relaxed, friendly, and interactive with each other,” and socially “there are tons of students that love to party.”

The complete university experience may be found at Troy University's beautiful, historic campus in Troy, Ala. The Troy, Ala. campus provides top-notch academic programs as well as experiences that shape careers and lives. Students on the Troy Campus enjoy more than 200 clubs, Greek organizations and philanthropic groups, as well study abroad programs, Division I athletics, an honors program and more.
The Troy Campus also offers a wide variety of residence halls, including apartment style units. The surrounding city of Troy is a charming Southern city with a picturesque town square featuring unique boutiques and food options.
Troy's Dothan Campus is located between Dothan and Fort Rucker and serves primarily adult learners through day, evening and weekend classes. The campus is home to R. Terry Everett Hall, named in honor of the longtime Alabama Congressman from the state's Wiregrass region, and includes in its library collection Everett's Congressional papers. The Wiregrass Archives, featuring historical photos and documents from the region, is also located at the campus.
The University's Montgomery Campus is located in the heart of the state's capital city, and has been a catalyst to revitalization within the downtown area. The campus' administrative offices are located in the former Whitley Hotel, which was renovated to include office and classroom space in what is now known as Whitley Hall. Another revitalization project that is a centerpiece of the campus is the Davis Theatre for the Performing Arts, a 1,200-seat theatre and performing arts venue which features performing groups from throughout the region. The campus is also home to the Rosa Parks Library and Museum, which is located on the site of Mrs. Parks' 1955 arrest that sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott. The museum pays tribute to Mrs. Parks' legacy of courage and celebrates the people and events of the 381-day boycott, which led to the integration of the city's public transportation system.
The Phenix City Campus, includes a location on the banks of the Chattahoochee River, which has served as a catalyst for development along the East Alabama city's riverfront. The Phenix City campus serves primarily adult learners from East Alabama and neighboring Columbus, Georgia.

The Troy Campus offers a full complement of facilities for students, including numerous on-campus computer labs and study facilities, a dining hall complete with numerous dining options; the Trojan Student Center, which includes activity space for events, bookstore, food court, and fitness center a comprehensive library; numerous residence halls that provide a variety of living options; fraternity and sorority houses; athletic facilities, including the 30,000-seat Veterans Memorial Stadium and Trojan Arena, which is home to men's and women's basketball.
Students also can take advantage of opportunities that will help them hone their skills and enhance their academic success. The John W. Schmidt Center for Student Success provides programs and services that enhance students' academic achievement, personal and social growth, campus and civic engagement and persistence to graduation.

The Troy campus is located in a small Southern community, and “The area definitely has the small-town vibe and slow pace of life.” There are a few bars in town, but “most of the social gatherings are at house parties and Greek functions.” Instead of partying, other students get together to “play board games, have picnics, or get a big group to play an outdoor sport.” For more options, you can “drive an hour to Dothan or Montgomery to go out to eat and go shopping.” In addition to the obvious (“sleeping, eating, going to class, and studying”), Troy students participate in theater, sports, marching band, and Christian groups. Despite club activities, campus life can be quiet. “When school is in session Troy is great, but during some weekends and breaks it is a ghost town,” because many student go home to see their families. Under any circumstance, getting involved in campus life is important; “Troy can be either exciting or boring depending on what you make out of it.” A current student affirms, “I am involved in a fraternity and the student government and without these groups, I would be bored and lost.”
