Academic Programs
Professors work diligently to arrange internships for students within the community, larger cities around the country, and through study abroad options. Listed as a "Top Tier" institution by US News and World Report, our graduates enjoy a high acceptance rate to graduate and professional schools, particularly in science, business, and education. University of the Cumberlands is one of the few institutions where all students complete a leadership program, which helps fulfill our mission to prepare students for lives of ethical and responsible leadership. Students gain practical hands-on experience working with established service organizations and designing and implementing community service projects.
The academic year begins in late-August, with the first semester ending in mid-December. The second semester runs from early January to early May. Two online undergraduate and graduate summer sessions are also offered. Orientation, pre-registration, and academic advising by faculty members begin in the summer preceding entrance.
Students may receive credit for passing the College Board Advanced Placement (AP exams), the College-Level Examination Programs (CLEP), and special departmental tests. Highly qualified students have the opportunity to undertake advanced independent study through Presidential Research options.
