From the North Take the Kennedy Expressway (I-90/94) to the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290) westbound and keep to the right; take the second exit from the Eisenhower Expressway, which is Ashland Avenue; take Ashland Avenue south to Taylor Street; then go west on Taylor Street to the campus.
From the West Take the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290) to the Ashland Avenue exit; take Ashland Avenue south to Taylor Street; then go west on Taylor Street to the campus.

Sustainability
The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) is a STARS Charter Participant and has achieved Gold-level recognition in the Illinois Sustainable Campuses Compact. UIC was the first university in Chicago to establish an Office of Sustainability and has published a Climate Action Plan, identifying steps to reduce the institution’s carbon emissions at least 80 percent by 2050. UIC offers courses in sustainability, including the Summer Institute on Sustainability & Energy. During the year, UIC engages staff regarding sustainable purchasing and practices, and engages students with internships and volunteer opportunities about sustainability issues. UIC was one of the first universities to develop a comprehensive sustainable strategic thinking process that includes activities, initiatives, and programs that incorporate all aspects of sustainability into the strategic planning process. UIC is recognized as a Tree Campus USA college. The school's Lincoln & Douglas Hall’s renovations were UIC’s first projects to earn LEED Gold with innovations including multi-building geothermal heating/cooling system, rooftop solar photovoltaic panels, and native landscaping to reduce storm water runoff. Also, UIC policy dictates that all future major campus building projects must seek LEED Silver or better. UIC incorporated a Green Fee which students help fund both large and small sustainability- related projects. The Office of Sustainability, along with the Institute for Environmental Science and Policy and the Heritage Garden, provide opportunities for students to pursue research and other campus projects, internship opportunities relating to sustainability, or get involved in a number of active student organizations.
