Weber State University is a large public university in northern Utah that offers a good quality of learning for a low in-state tuition, making it a prime institution for those looking to go back to school later in life. Small course sizes "make it extremely helpful to do well in classes, especially upper division classes," and the faculty's genuine care for students means "no one ever gets lost in the shuffle." Professors are extremely "flexible" (which is a huge plus for the large number of nontraditional students on campus), always willing to meet outside of class, and "incredibly prompt when responding to emails." They are "well-versed and professional," but "personable in a way that can't be attained in a larger university." There is a real focus at Weber State on making the classroom fun and interesting, and many professors will pose "tricky and thoughtful questions that always cause [students] to think about the homework or even the assignment." Academic counseling is also extremely accessible here, and "there are many resources on campus" for student to craft a study, internship, or career path.

Weber State's "very varied" student body is large enough to include "people who are right out of high school, people that are married, those that have kids, or are single parents." There is an "active campus mentality" with a generally decent level of student interactions and participation at university events, but most everyone in this busy group is "[balancing] jobs, sports, school, and family life" so the mindset of the school is "purely education." According to students, Weber State has one of the lowest Latter Day Saint student populations in Utah (that being said, Latter Day Saints do form a significant portion of the student body). A sizable commuter population means that many students "come to class, then leave to go to work or school," but there are still thousands of on-campus students in the mix, including "a good amount of out-of-state and in-state students alike." Everyone here is "friendly...willing to help and does not judge," creating a "very comfortable and inviting environment."

Plenty of "events, workshops, sports/games, and activities" sponsored by Weber State keep students as busy as they want to be, and the city of Ogden "also has a nice nightlife if you enjoy art [and][ bars." Because many students are nontraditional, "most work full-time as well as go to school, which takes up a lot of time for them," and campus "is really busy during the morning and afternoon" before a 3 p.m. lull and the night classes rush. Usually study rooms are filled with students, and "the Student Union is a very popular place for the students to hang out." There are tons of sporting events here ("People like to go see hockey, basketball, soccer, and volleyball"), and the university also has several plays and music events that students can attend for a discounted price. Ogden is an excellent place for outdoor enthusiasts, as "some of the greatest snowboarding, skiing, and hiking is just a 30-minute drive away" in the foothills of the nearby Wasatch Mountains, and "the local economy revolves around that kind of stuff, too, so it's totally accessible."
