Founded in 1885, Springfield College is known worldwide for the guiding principles of its Humanics philosophy—educating students in spirit, mind, and body for leadership in service to others. With its foundation of academic excellence and rich athletic heritage, Springfield College prepares students with real-world leadership skills for careers that transform lives and communities. The College offers a range of undergraduate and graduate degree programs in the fields of health sciences, human and social services, sport management and movement studies, education, business, and the arts and sciences. It also offers doctoral programs in physical education, physical therapy, and counseling psychology. In the 2019 edition of the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings, Springfield College was ranked in the top 30 in the category of Best Regional Universities-North. Springfield College was also ranked by U.S. News in the top 19 in its category as a "Best Value" college, which takes into account a college's academic quality and net cost of attendance. Springfield College is also a premier Leadership Development Center by the YMCA of the USA. Graduate students at Springfield College put their classroom education to practice through fieldwork and service learning. It's a learning advantage based on the College's historic mission: the Humanics philosophy, which calls for educating students in spirit, mind, and body for leadership in service to others. Humanics is at the base of everything the College does—in academics, athletics, and student life.
Degrees Offered
Springfield College offers 25 master's degree and five doctoral degree programs taught by faculty members who are passionate about their disciplines and active in their industries. Our graduate programs challenge students to think critically and innovatively as they explore content inside the classrooms and apply that knowledge to their fields.
Faculty
There are 211 full-time faculty members, 85% of whom have earned the highest degrees in their fields. Our faculty are intently focused on our graduate students' successes with office hours, individual and group research and practicum guidance, and thesis and dissertation advisement, our graduate students receive individualized faculty attention from the classrooms straight into their careers. The per credit hour cost for graduate students is $1,042. Housing costs range from $9,800–$13,900 per academic year. Meal plans vary, and there are many options from which to choose.
Financial Aid
Springfield College offers fellowships and associateships that assist in paying for tuition as well as professional development opportunities. Assistantships, which pay students an hourly wage, are also available. For some graduate students, AmeriCorps positions provide additional funding and professional opportunity that supplement their education. The Office of Financial Aid administers $19,386,000 in federal loans, and 70% of traditional graduate students borrow some federal loan money. Eighty-five percent of traditional graduate students receive some form of financial assistance.

Springfield College is located in a picturesque New England setting within a city on about 100 acres in the Pioneer Valley. It's an easy drive to Boston or New York City, and just down the road, students can experience East Campus, a 82 acre forest ecosystem that sits on a mile of lake shoreline and houses ropes courses, canoes, kayaks, and an outdoor education facility.
Facilities
The campus has wireless internet access, smart classrooms, and computer labs. Our learning facilities are state of the art and include a human anatomy lab, a performance assessment lab, an art gallery, an exercise physiology/biomechanics lab, a theater, and a medical simulation lab featuring high-fidelity 3G adult and baby patient simulator mannequins that respond to treatment as human patients would. Extensive athletic and recreational facilities include the Field House and Wellness & Recreation Center, which house strength and conditioning facilities; a six-lane running track; multipurpose courts; a six-lane, 50-meter pool; and classrooms and laboratories.
Students
Springfield College has 3,408 undergraduate students and 1,500 graduate students on the main campus and at eight regional campuses across the country. These students come from 29 states and eight countries, mostly from the northeastern corridor of the country. With the majority of our undergraduate and graduate students residing on campus, Springfield College is a home away from home for its students.
