From The School
We are dedicated to helping prospective students pursue their medical career ambitions within a highly collaborative environment. To enroll to our Medical Education Program, we require applicants to have completed several key subjects at an accredited university or college in the United States or Canada, including:
- General Chemistry: One academic year with laboratory
- Organic Chemistry: One academic year or one semester each of organic chemistry and biochemistry with laboratory
- Biology: One academic year with laboratory
- Physics: One semester with laboratory
- Math: One semester of Statistics
- English: One academic year of intensive writing courses
We encourage applicants to develop skills and, if possible, proficiency in a second language other than English. We also suggest an interest in integral social sciences such as: Political Science, Global Health, Psychology, and Sociology.
Lastly, applicants should have taken the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) within three years of their matriculation start date.

MD Program
The MD Program at ISMMS combines the most progressive, technologically advanced, scientifically based education with the goal of improving societal health care needs locally in New York City and around the world. We explicitly blur the traditional distinction between pre-clinical and clinical years by integrating the basic sciences across courses as well-initiating students into the clinical environment from their first day of school.

Early Assurance Programs
The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS) is the first medical school in the country to create progressive and rigorous admissions pathways for students who seek early assurance of admission. The Donald and Vera Blinken FlexMed Program allows college sophomores in any major to apply for early assurance of acceptance to our school. The Institutional Partnership Program allows students in fields such as business consulting and the military an alternative pathway to medical school. Our Early Assurance Programs in clude.
Donald and Vera FlexMed Program
The Donald and Vera Blinken FlexMed Program is open to all undergraduate sophomores in good academic standing from any major. The program draws students who concentrate in biomedical sciences, the humanities and social sciences, and computational sciences and engineering.
Applicants must be entering their second year of college as a full-time student, working towards their first bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university in the U.S. or Canada.
Institutional Partnership Program
Our institutional partnerships allow unique pathways to talented individuals who are interested in earning a medical degree to apply for admission to the Icahn School of Medicine unencumbered by traditional pre-med requirements and the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT). Unique pathway opportunities by way of the McKinsey & Company, Deloitte Consulting, and the U.S. Military are available.

The Medical Education Program at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai prepares our students for the opportunities and challenges of practicing medicine and conducting biomedical research in the 21st century.
