In reviewing applicants for the first-year class, admission considers each prospective student carefully. Counselors assess each applicant's secondary school performance, SAT I or ACT scores (optional for non-nursing majors, nursing majors must submit scores and should apply Early Action or Early Decision), recommendation letters, extracurricular involvement, and the written essay. Of highest priority is the applicant's secondary school transcript, with a specific focus on both the rigor of course study and the marks received. Saint Anselm invites transfer and international students to apply.

The core curriculum focuses on humanities, college writing, and learning outcomes. It is a balance between common courses that foster academic community and elective courses that allow for individual choice. Students can learn in intimate academic environments and engage with faculty and peers.
All first-year students engage in the Conversatio program, a share learning experience designed to integrate the liberal arts into each student's education. Students will meet in groups made up of all types of majors and backgrounds in seminar-style classes to promote debate and discussion. Over the course of the year, they will read diverse texts, debate topics from numerous perspectives, develop research skills, hear from guest speakers, and polish writing and public speaking abilities.
An emphasis is placed on experiential learning at Saint Anselm. Students are encouraged to take on opportunities such as service, internships, and studying abroad. As a campus that is consistently ranked in the top 20 for community service engagement, students can fuel their academic experience with volunteer opportunities including service-based learning. With over 4,000 internships made available through the Career Development Center, they can gain real-world working experience and discover future careers. Students interested in studying abroad will find there is an abundance of locations and timelines to choose from. Saint Anselm College operates a satellite campus in Orvieto, Italy, approximately an hour from Rome. Students can take Saint Anselm faculty taught courses in a gorgeous European setting. They have also studied abroad in over 50 different countries on 5 different continents.

Nestled in New Hampshire, an hour north of Boston, Saint Anselm College is a small, Catholic Benedictine liberal arts college founded in 1889. The small size of the college—in 2018 there were 2,015 students—allows Saint Anselm College to provide “a welcoming community” and a “personalized experience” for all students. With more than 60 clubs and organizations, 18 varsity athletic teams, a performing arts center, and an art gallery, Saint Anselm students have plenty of activities to explore. From Rugby to the Broadcast Club to the Multicultural Student Coalition, there is a club for every interest, cultural to academic.
Students interested in service will be right at home volunteering through the Meelia Center for Community Engagement or through Campus Ministry. Saint Anselm students volunteered more than 51,907 hours last year doing everything from teaching English to new Americans to working the crisis hotline at the YWCA to raising over $100,000 for the American Cancer Society with the Relay for Life. Every winter and spring break, Saint Anselm students travel to organizations around the country to volunteer at service sites through Service & Solidarity Mission Trips.
Saint Anselm College with 1,900 enrolled students, is part of the Division II Northeast-10 and ECAC Conferences with 18 varsity teams: men's intercollegiate sports in baseball, basketball, cross-country, football, golf, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, and tennis and women's sports in basketball, cross-country, field hockey, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball. Campus Facilities & Equipment
There's much to see and do on campus from open skate nights at Sullivan Arena to spring concerts on the quad. Academic buildings including the Goulet Science Center and Gadbois Hall house innovative labs where remarkable research happens every day. There are cell culture labs, climate controlled environmental chambers, a green house, a sleep lab, SimMan labs in Nursing, and more. In the library, students have access to a range of workspaces for individuals and groups in addition to technological advances.
The Roger & Francine Jean Student Center, opened in 2018, is a one-stop shop for student life. Home to offices such as Student Engagement and Leadership, Campus Ministry, the Intercultural Center, the Career Development Center, the Academic Resource Center, and the Meelia Center for Community Engagement, it has become a hub of activity, community, and opportunity. Students can also get the latest Saint Anselm gear in the bookstore or pick up a coffee from Starbucks in the Gallo Café.
Recreational facilities include the Carr Center with basketball courts and a 9,000-square-foot, three-level fitness center. Saint Anselm College boasts some of the top athletic facilities in the Northeast-10 Conference. The college's 18 intercollegiate athletic teams play all of their home contests on campus (with the exception of the golf team) whether at Grappone Stadium, Sullivan Arena, or Melucci Field.
Ninety-one percent of Saint Anselm students live on campus in traditional residence halls, suites, townhouses, or apartments. A new 47,000-square-foot, 150-bed residence hall opened in August 2014 offering students an innovative, living-learning community. Whether students live on campus or commute, everyone has access to Saint Anselm College's amazing food, named 8th in the nation by the Princeton Review.
Saint Anselm is home to the New Hampshire Institute of Politics & Political Library (NHIOP), which offers unparalleled opportunities for students to be in the front row of the democratic process. Itsauditorium, West Wing, TV-studio, and classrooms are where students meet today's most prominent political policy thinkers and researchers, journalists and authors, scientists, industry executives, global leaders and presidential candidates. Saint Anselm College “is a school with rigorous academics on the weekdays,” notes a Communication major, “and tons of different things to be involved in on the weekends.” On campus, students hang out and “watch movies,” play “pool in their dorms,” and attend “sports events.” The Campus Activities Board “brings magicians, comedians, and musicians” to campus that students can “see for free.” Students can also enjoy the “Abbey Players or various theater performances at the Dana Center,” and “many students grab a bite to eat at the Coffee Shop” afterward. “There are plenty of options to keep busy!” says an International Relations major. Including community service work, which is a “big part of Saint Anselm’s mission.”
